My Breast Reduction Experience

I have grown up my whole life being known as the girl with “big boobs”. Starting in elementary school, no one else was wearing bras except for me, and I didn’t understand. In middle school, boys would look at me like they’ve never seen boobs before. In highschool, it was just known by then that I literally had the biggest boobs in our grade.

Hey!!

My name is Ally, I am a small town girl with big city dreams. Currently a senior studying Criminal Justice at a university in PA. You will always catch me getting happy hour with friends and continuing the night on to the dancefloor. Whether it’s iced coffee or a margarita, I will always have a good drink in my hand. I love traveling the world, exploring new places and making new memories.

So for anyone reading this that has struggled with this their whole life, I understand. Not only do you walk around everyday with neck and back pain and raging migraines, the looks you get are insane. I could barely fit into any of the tops I owned, it was impossible to find something to wear. I just got used to being told by my friends “I mean you can try this top on but it wont fit your boobs’ ‘ or “I don’t want you to wear this your boobs will stretch out my shirt”. It was so frustrating. In highschool, I would try to walk out of the house in a tank top and my mom would give me the dirtiest look like “you can’t wear that your boobs are out”. I thought about getting a breast reduction for years but I just never went through with it.

I’m about 2 weeks out of surgery, and it is the best decision I have ever made!! In July, I started making calls to doctors and making appointments to get a referral to a plastic surgeon. It took about 3 months of doctors appointments and phone calls until I got approved by my insurance and scheduled surgery for Oct 7th. If you’re thinking about getting one, make the phone call and schedule the appointment! Ignore all the comments you’re going to get from friends and family, (especially boys lol) no one will understand how much big boobs stop you from doing normal day things.

Recovery was pretty rough but looking back at it, it was honestly such a blur. I got surgery Oct 7th on a Friday and had to stay overnight at the hospital. My mom was by my side the whole time and had to help me with everything. Getting up out of bed, showering, eating, literally everything. I was bed ridden for a whole week, probably the furthest I walked was to the bathroom. Being about 2 weeks out of surgery right now, I am still a little sore but I am just kind of used to it. I have not had any back pain and I’m wearing shirts I’ve never been able to wear before. It was 100% one of the best decisions I have ever made and telling everyone, if you’re thinking about getting one, just do it!!
