College is the perfect time to start developing your personal wardrobe basics and sense of style. Without a dress code or parent’s opinion you might be stumped on where to start.

My personal advice is to stock up on wardrobe basics and find statement pieces to build outfits around. Here are some staple pieces that you can dress up or down for any occasion.

Bodysuits

Bodysuits are such a versatile staple for any wardrobe. If you live somewhere that’s cold in the mornings and warmer throughout the day, layering is essential.

You can wear a short sleeve bodysuit under a sweat set and take your hoodie off if you get hot throughout the day, or wear a long sleeve bodysuit for warmth without the bulky feel of normal long sleeves.

Black Midi Skirt

A black midi skirt can be styled so many different ways for all seasons. I love this one from Reformation because it has a slit and flowy silhouette that makes it easy to dress up or down.

Pair it with a baby tee and a chunky sandal for a cute summer vibe, or throw on a turtleneck and booties to dress it up for a date night or job interview.

Cropped Sweater

I love this cropped sweater from Madewell because it’s so soft and comes in so many different colors. You can pair it with leggings and Uggs for a chic going to class outfit or a pair of tailored pants or jeans for a more elevated look.

Straight-Leg Jeans

Everyone needs a few good pairs of denim. Aside from Abercrombie and Agolde, these Calvin Klein jeans from Macy’s are one of my favorite pairs.

The raw hem gives them more of a casual and trendy feel that’s perfect with a bodysuit and shacket, but they can still be dressed up with a leather jacket and booties.

  1. Yesterday, while I was at work, my sister stole my iphone and tested to see if it can survive a 30 foot drop, just so she can be a youtube sensation. My iPad is now destroyed and she has 83 views. I know this is entirely off topic but I had to share it with someone!
